Fernanda joined H&M Foundation as Strategy Lead in 2021. She is co-creating an ecosystem of cross-sector stakeholders to create systems change for a fair and inclusive society for all.
Fernanda is a humanitarian professional with an unconventional and innovative mindset. She believes in taking a holistic approach to shift power relations and make sure that everyone has agency to determine their own future.
In her role, Fernanda creates strategic collaborations to equip women garment workers in Bangladesh and prepare them for a future where the textile industry is defined by automation and digitalization. The aim is to enable them to take up new job opportunities and safeguard their livelihoods.
Before joining the H&M Foundation, Fernanda was Head of Operations at Gapminder, having also led the development of the revolutionary educational tool called dollarstreet.org. She has about 10 years of experience implementing development projects focused on youth empowerment and sustainability in Brazil, India, Nepal and Sweden.
Fernanda holds a master’s degree in Development Studies from Lund University. Her thesis and posterior work were in the field of demography. She has a bachelor’s degree in International Relations.
In addition to her professional work, Fernanda has also been a professional ballerina for many years. She has also served on the board of ABC Active Contributions to People and the Environment. She loves public speaking and believes that understanding demography is the key creating solutions for a sustainable future!
